Shiners Q Chex
Shiners Q
Chex was purchased from Carol Rose in December of 2002. We brought him to
Okotoks, Alberta and he began training with Cody Sapergia. Cody and Q had
two very successful years in the show pen both in Canada, and the U.S. In
2005 Q was forced to take a 7 month holiday to recover from and injury, and in
July of that year, he began training with Nicole Brown. Nicole and Q had a
short but great fall in 2005, and in 2006,2007 and 2008 traveled extensively throughout the
U.S. and Canada. Nicole and Q showed at all the major derbies in the U.S.
and at the CRBC here in Canada. They placed at every event. In
addition, Nicole and Q have won the Canadian National Quarter Horse Senior Reining
title 3 times, finished Q's AQHA R.O.M. and earned his Silver Merit Award from the NRHA.

2008 was a great year for Wendy Williams and Shiners Q Chex. After Wendy's show mare came up lame, Don (aka Dad) asked her if she would like to show Q. It was an opportunity of a lifetime which she quickly pursued. With only one week left in July to earn enough points to qualify for the AQHA World Show, Wendy and Q attended the Wild Rose Quarter Horse Circuit. They won every class and earned 23 AQHA points, more than enough to secure their qualification for the World Show. August, Sept. and Oct. they traveled to several competitions preparing for the World Show in November. The season ended with a very successful showing at the World Show. Of the 47 horses in Amateur Reining, Wendy and Q made the top 15, qualifying them for the finals. A lost shoe interfered with their final run, but they ended up 14th in the World. A very respectable achievement for a pair that just got together 5 months earlier.
We are unsure as to what the future holds for 2009. Shiners Q Chex is now in the care of Terry-Lee Sapergia of Sapergia Training Stables in Cochrane, AB. Terry is keeping Q sharp and if the show pen calls, they will be ready to go again in 2009.
Q will also be standing at stud in Cochrane and any inquiries can be made to Wendy Williams.
